Touch
The pieces in this series are made as wearable expressions of gestures. In simplified and substantial forms, they emphasize the tactile sensation of connection.
Jewellery is a thing that unlike most other object is inherently intimate and personal because of its place on the body. When we wear it, it presses against our skin and invites absent minded touch from us. It can be a subtle presence, often forgotten as it’s worn. It can be reassuring; one can feel exposed without the ring they have worn daily for years or decades. Or it can be a reminder, an object whose presence holds the memory of a person, place, or time.
In both form and feel these pieces reflect a sense of closeness. They are solid and fully present – when wearing them, they are smooth and comfortable but have reassuring weight and substance against the body. As a conductor of heat, the silver warms to match the temperature against your skin. They are a gentle press, a simple gesture, and a reminder of connection.
